AMBER CARLSON, LICSW, ANNOUNCED AS NEW DIRECTOR OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES
Release Date: Jun 18, 2021
SHELTON, WA – Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Amber Carlson, accepted the role of Director of Behavioral Health Services at Mason Health. Amber will closely work in a dyad relationship with Dr. Amie Mower, Mason’s Medical Director of Integrated Behavioral Health, while reporting directly to Mark Batty, Mason Health Chief Operating Officer.
Along with Dr. Mower, Amber will work to put direct focus on Behavioral Health patients and processes, including working collaboratively with the behavioral health team to develop a vision for behavioral health integration across all specialties. This will also include Mason’s involvement in the University of Washington’s Advancing Integrated Mental Health Solutions (AIMS) program. Amber will have day-to-day oversight of the Behavioral Health operations and support staff, while focusing on further development of substance use disorder services and grant writing to grow the behavioral health service line.
Amber has over 22 years of experience in healthcare settings, and 13 years as a Medical Social Worker. She has been a part of the initial Behavioral Health program here at Mason Health for five years. Additionally, and a major consideration in this transition is Amber’s completion this summer of a Doctorate in Social Work at the University of Southern California, focused on program management, evaluation, and design within Behavioral Health settings, with emphasis on substance use disorder. Throughout all her experience, education and training, Amber continues to be impressed with Mason Health’s focus on uniting the community, empowering people, and providing exceptional healthcare.
It is anticipated this leadership transition will progress over the next few months. Throughout this change and well into the future Amber will continue to work closely with the Behavioral Health providers.
