MASON GENERAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION PRESENTS BARRELS & BREWS — A BENEFIT FOR MASON HEALTH THIS AUGUST!

Release Date: May 09, 2024

SHELTON — Back by popular demand, Mason General Hospital Foundation’s Barrels & Brews fundraiser for Mason Health returns this year, with a special focus on local Mason County breweries, wineries and distilleries!

Join us on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Kneeland Park in Shelton, for an evening of fundraising for medical equipment at Mason General Hospital. Enjoy live music, sip and taste local beers, wines, spirits and non-alcoholic beverages from local drinking holes, and show your support for quality health care in Mason County, all for the price of a $30 entry fee, if purchased before the event. Entry fees at the door will cost $35. For the price of entry, guests will receive five drink tickets and commemorative glassware. Additional drink tickets will be sold for $2 at the event. Some beverage vendors will have growlers or wine bottles for sale. This a 21-and-older event.

Guests will also enjoy a special performance by The Oly Mountain Boys, the magnetic and innovative bluegrass band from Olympia.

“We are excited to bring Barrels & Brews back to the community after a five-year hiatus post-pandemic,” said Committee Chair Bonnie Trachtenberg. “We decided to move the event outside and into the summer season so that we could ensure the most successful event possible. We hope visitors and longtime supporters of Mason General Hospital Foundation will stop by and enjoy this celebration of local businesses and quality health care in Mason County.”
As of May 1, the following businesses have confirmed their participation in Barrels & Brews:

  • High Steel Beer Co. from Shelton
  • Potlatch Brewing Co. from Hoodsport
  • Bent Bine Brew Co. from Belfair
  • Hoodsport Winery from Hoodsport
  • The Hardware Distillery from Hoodsport
  • Steph’s Espresso from Shelton
  • Grays Harbor Wine Sellars from Aberdeen
  • Whitewood Cider Co. from Olympia
  • Wildcat Creek Cider from McCleary

Pig Boys BBQ from Olympia will be selling food for purchase from their food truck, with a portion of sales contributing to Mason General Hospital Foundation. Steph’s Espresso will be selling non-alcoholic drinks, such as Italian sodas, cold brew coffee and energy drinks. Additional food truck and beverage vendors are in the works.

The Oly Mountain Boys are a South Puget Sound bluegrass institution, picking and singing around Olympia since 2008. Their highly praised sound has been called “complex, melodic and epic” by Tacoma’s Weekly Volcano, “original and innovative” by the Good Life Northwest Blog and “fun and infectious” by Thurston Talk. “Whether you are a seasoned bluegrass aficionado or totally new to the genre, you want to hear the music of the Oly Mountain Boys,” wrote Gale Hemmann for ThurstonTalk. “Serious about music and fun, the Oly Mountain Boys are happy to provide you with an introduction to bluegrass, Pacific Northwest style.”

Mason General Hospital Foundation’s Barrels & Brews fundraising committee includes Bonnie Trachtenberg, Don Entus of Central Mason Fire & EMS, Tom Beben of High Steel Beer Co., and MGHF board members Jaimie Hans and Selena Parker of Maple Glen Senior Living.
