A FRESH LOOK: MASON HEALTH CAMPUS MASTER PLAN & CONSTRUCTION PROJECT BEGINS THIS SPRING & MAKES WAY FOR NEW HIGH-FIELD OPEN MRI ARRIVAL AT YEAR-END 2025

SHELTON, WA – Mason Health will be undergoing a series of construction projects that begins this spring and aligns with the District’s Campus Master Plan. These projects will further Mason Health’s Mission of United Community, Empowered People, Exceptional Health by expanding services for patients, ensuring the District can continue to provide the best patient-centered care in the Pacific Northwest. While some Mason Health departments will be temporarily relocating in March, community and patient-facing improvements will start in April.
“As Mason Health expands to meet the needs of our patients and community, teams across the District are committed to the continuation of their great work with the provision of exceptional care during this transition,” said Mason Health CEO Eric Moll. “By the end of this construction period in spring 2026, Mason Health patients and our workforce teams will experience enhanced services, related to Eye Care and clinic-based services, and access a new state-of-the-art high-field open MRI. Other improvements, such as new flooring, will improve patient safety.”

Mason General Hospital Bistro Cafeteria — Closure Dates: April 1 to June 30:
Starting April 1, Mason General Hospital’s cafeteria will be closed to the public. Inpatient dining will remain open for patients at Mason General Hospital, and alternative food options for Mason Health employees will be provided. Visitors and members of the public are encouraged to plan ahead and bring alternative food options. Vending machines will be open during the duration of the cafeteria closure. The cafeteria remodel will allow for streamlined dining service in the cafeteria once the cafeteria re-opens. Later this spring, cafeteria-goers will also be able to enjoy new artwork at the cafeteria and a rebrand to the Mountain View Cafe The duration of the cafeteria closure is slated to begin April 1 and ends on June 30.
Mason Clinic-Eye Care Waiting Room — Closure Dates: April 15 to June 30:
Starting April 15, the Mason Clinic-Eye Care waiting area will be closed to the public to accommodate construction and expansion within the Eye Care service line. Patients will be redirected to other waiting areas during this time. Mason Health plans to increase the number of providers at Mason Clinic-Eye Care to accommodate this growing need in the community. The duration of the Eye Care waiting room closure is scheduled for April 15 to June 30.
Conference Room Closures and Diagnostic Imaging & MRI Suite Relocation and Remodel — Ellinor & Pershing Conference Room Closure Dates: April 8 to Dec 10:
Mason Health’s Ellinor and Pershing conference rooms at Mason General Hospital will close temporarily and relocate starting April 15, to accommodate construction for Mason Health’s new high-field open MRI. The new MRI replaces the current open MRI that is nearing end-of-life service. The Washington and Skokomish meeting rooms downstairs will remain open until late this year. Members of the public can expect to be redirected to the new conference center in the lower level of Mason General Hospital for District sponsored workshops, classes and special community outreach events. The Ellinor and Pershing conference rooms will close next month and re-open at a new location downstairs in the hospital in at the end of the year. The duration of the upstairs conference room closures is April to December.
Future updates this summer and later in 2025-2026:
Patients and visitors may notice smaller construction projects and department relocations throughout the District later this year and into 2026. Follow us on social media and our website for the most current updates. Below are a few projects slated to occur:
- The lower level at Mason Clinic will see an expansion with a new portal to accommodate additional exam rooms and clinic spaces. Primary Care and Behavioral Health providers may relocate within the lower level during this transition. This work is expected to take place this spring and summer.
- Mason Health will replace flooring to improve patient safety on the main level, starting this summer. Flooring on the basement level will be replaced this fall.
- Mason Health’s Diabetes and Dietitian offices, as well as the Diagnostic Imaging waiting room, will be relocated at the end of the year to a new location. These relocations will accommodate an expanded Diagnostic Imaging service line and the new high-field open MRI. Updates will be shared at a later date regarding these relocations.
