SHELTON, WA – Mason Health Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of two distinguished community members to its Board: Lyle Lewin, Executive Director of Shelton Health & Rehabilitation Center, and Carol Phipps, Office Manager at Salish Seafoods. Their leadership and dedication to the Mason County community will further the Foundation’s mission to support quality health care in Mason County.

Lyle Lewin: A Passion for Leadership and Advocacy

Lyle Lewin

brings a wealth of experience in business management and health care leadership to the Mason Health Foundation Board. A native of Grays Harbor County, Lewin graduated from Montesano High School in 2003 before earning his bachelor’s degree from Washington State University and later a master’s in business in 2008.

After spending eight years as a university professor in South Korea, where he taught English, literature and psychology, Lewin transitioned into the corporate world, taking on a CFO role at an international startup he cofounded in Los Angeles. In 2018, he pivoted to health care, driven by a passion for mentoring and improving patient care.

Lewin joined Shelton Health & Rehabilitation Center as Executive Director in 2023, following years of experience as the executive director of skilled nursing facilities in California and Washington.

“I like the idea of giving back. It helps me invest in the community,” Lewin said about his decision to join the Mason Health Foundation Board.

As a strong advocate for patient care, he is eager to contribute his leadership skills to furthering the Foundation’s impact. In his free time, he enjoys performing music, spending time with friends, and spoiling his French bulldog, Shadow.

Carol Phipps: A Deep-Rooted Commitment to Community

Carol Phipps, a lifelong Mason County resident, brings decades of experience in business operations and community engagement to the Foundation Board. Born and raised in the area, she attended Southside School and graduated from Shelton High School in 1986. Married to her high school sweetheart, Brian Phipps, Carol has built a life centered around family and community service.

Having worked at Peninsula Credit Union in the 1990s, Phipps transitioned to Salish Seafoods, where she has been a dedicated team member for nearly 20 years. She has long been involved with Mason Health Foundation, contributing to the success of Fantasy Forest fundraisers as a volunteer in years past. Her enthusiasm for fundraising and community outreach made joining the Foundation Board a natural fit.

“I love my community and have enjoyed watching our hospital grow since I was a little girl,” Phipps shared. She enjoys barbecuing for friends, weddings, and fundraisers, most recently for the Miss Washington Rodeo Queen fundraiser. In her spare time, she loves camping, baking, and spending time with her grandsons.

Mason Health Foundation is excited to welcome Lewin and Phipps to the Board, confident that their leadership, passion, and deep community ties will help strengthen health care initiatives in Mason County.
