MASON HEALTH FOUNDATION PRESENTS THE 29th QUALITY CARE OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT — HELP US FUNDRAISE FOR A NEW HIGH-FIELD OPEN MRI!
Release Date: Feb 10, 2025
SHELTON, WA – Time to tee off! Mason Health Foundation announced its rebrand in November and is pleased to announce the return of Mason County’s premier golf tournament fundraiser this summer. This year’s Quality Care Open will take place on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Alderbrook Golf & Yacht Club in Union. This fundraiser supports Mason Health’s purchase of a new high-field open MRI, which is expected to be ready to serve patients at the end of this year.
This year marks the return of the golf tournament to Alderbrook Golf & Yacht Club for the first time since 2019. The tournament did not take place during the pandemic. Last year’s tournament took place at LakeLand Village Golf Course in Allyn. With a view of beautiful Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains, Alderbrook is one of the most scenic golf courses in Washington state.
“Since bringing this event back post-pandemic, Mason County’s partners and community supporters, both inside and outside the county, have really stepped up and poured their support into Mason Health and Mason Health Foundation,” said event co-chair Brent Wilcox, a longtime Foundation tournament player and director of OAC Services, Inc. “We are happy to bring this event back to Alderbrook and are excited to have another successful year of fundraising.”
Four-person teams will play 18 holes in a scramble format. Included with the price of the ticket are a variety of prizes, team photos provided by Hood Canal Communications, golfer gift packs and a meal provided by Alderbrook Golf & Yacht Club. Ticket prices for this year’s Quality Care Open will remain the same as last year: Early-bird pricing is set at $199 per individual player or $795 for a team of four, before June 18. After June 18, the price for an individual player will be $219 and $876 for a team of four. Registration is available online at www.masongeneral.com/community/events/ quality-care-open-golf-tournament.
Players may also pay in person at the Foundation’s office at 2505 Olympic Highway North, Suite 170, in Shelton, or by calling the Foundation Office at 360-427-3623.

Mason Health’s current open MRI has served patients since 2013 and is reaching end-of-life service. The new OASIS Velocity High-Field Open MRI gives providers and technologists an unobstructed view of patients, with an advanced magnet design and imaging capabilities to handle all patients with confidence, without compromising on performance or efficiency. The machine promises fast exams, high-quality images with a seamless workflow. The MRI will be implemented at the end of the year. Construction at Mason General Hospital begins this spring and will continue throughout 2025 and into 2026 as the Diagnostic Imaging Department expands to accommodate the machine and growing needs.
At the Foundation’s Black & White Ball Dinner Auction last year, funding for the new MRI was bolstered by a $200,000 donation from the Foundation’s Endowment Fund, as well as generous contributions from the community, including $96,000 from a Grateful Patient donation and $18,000 from Our Community Credit Union.
“The Foundation’s support has been incredible,” said Director of Diagnostic Imaging Shane Faford. “From funding a new 3-D mammography machine in 2018 and the surgical C-arm unit in 2019 to the fluoroscopy x-ray imaging unit in 2022 and this MRI, they’ve raised millions of dollars to ensure we have the tools we need to provide exceptional care.”
Mason Health Foundation furthers the mission of Public Hospital District No.1 by enhancing the quality of health care enjoyed by patients of Mason County. The Foundation provides financial support to Mason Health.
